Once the cavity is full, the filling is shaped, smoothed, and polished to blend in with the surrounding teeth.
The larger the cavity, the longer they take to fill but usually, tooth fillings at our surgery take no more than 30 minutes to complete.
Versatile Dental Care
Tooth coloured or ‘white’ fillings are used at our clinic to restore teeth that are cracked or damaged or to replace unsightly amalgam fillings.
The composite dental material is made from a mixture of tiny glass particles and plastic resin. Because the tooth filling is bonded to the tooth, more of the natural tooth structure is retained.
The composite resin can also be used to close small gaps in teeth, improve the appearance of misshapen teeth, and conceal small cracks and stains.
On occasions where a tooth has extensive decay or damage, our dentist here at Nambour Dental Practice may recommend a crown instead of a tooth filling.Last but not least, we also use dental Microscope to detect any small caries, lesions or cracks as well as to improve aesthetic outcomes.
How to avoid tooth fillings
To avoid the need for dental fillings, it’s important to get into a daily routine of brushing, flossing and mouth rinsing. Regular 6-monthly check-up and cleans will also help prevent decay and gum disease.
